Sleeping, Eating, or Studying…

…are the only three things it seems I’ll be doing this quarter. For whatever reason, first-year-winter quarter is a bear-neuroanatomy, neurology, immunology, microbiology, the physical exam, the economics of health care systems, and anatomy of the head & neck. And to spice things up a bit I’m TAing a class called “Creative Writing for Medical Students”. Ugh. I get tired just typing all that out.

I should say to those who’ve been tracking this blog, both of you should be glad to learn that I did indeed finish the edits during break. The day before school started, in fact. And though there’s still some back and forth with my editor and some proof-reading friends, the lion’s share of the work is out of the way. It’s a huge relief not to have to have that project hanging over my head. It’s also a dirty lowdown shame that I didn’t get much of a vacation. I still can’t feel like I can focus on medicine. But, the material is interesting-especially the interaction between immunology and microbiology. And, I’m hopping, when I finally tie down all the loose ends for the book, it will be a lot easier to focus.

So who’s the other person who reads your blog? :)

If the edits are (mostly) done, does that mean there’s some estimate as to when it might be released?

  • hahaha, so i think it’s you and my aunt reading this thing regularly :)

and as for the a pub date, it seems that water is still very murky there. i was taking up a lot of my editor’s time and now that things with me have calmed down, he’s off to put out other fires with other authors.

  • One more loyal blog reader raises her hand…

Let me know if you have a second for fun, Blake.

  • I check in regularly. You update your blog far more often than my daughter updates hers.

If you need another set of eyes to proof your book, I’d be more than happy to.

  • Awww…I should probably come clean and say the above post was a shameless plea for blog attention :) and you guys make me feel very loved. Which is good because I seem to have (just in time for microbio) caught the nastiest bug ever to infect a sinus. Ug. I slept for 15 hrs last night and probably will sleep as long again.

  • I read your blog, Mister Charlton. I am not chopped liver. As one who chews on himself all the time (figuratively speaking), I’ll have you know that I am a bit more tasty.

Oh, who the hell am I kidding? I’m bland as can be.

    Forget I left this comment.

  • I going to have to disagree with you, Jack. Anyone who writes supernatural horror is probably not at all bland :)

My comment almost begged for disagreement, didn’t it? You’re probably right, though. Chew on anything for long enough and if it doesn’t lose its flavor, its flavor loses novelty. And now I’ve numbingly overextended and in narcissist fashion made it all about me. See that, Mister Charlton. I’m a bad person. :)
