Spellwright gets a first batch of blurbs!

Dearly Beloved You Guys:

First, apologies for the blog neglect. After finishing up the last med school classes of second year, my final line-edit for Tor came due. That has been followed by a flurry of PR related errands, which are not quite finished. However, we’ve recently received some wonderful quotations from some of the authors I admire most! In particular, it’s an honor to receive a blurb from Robin Hobb, whose books I would sneak into special ed study hall when I was teaching myself how to read. No less exciting are the blurbs from Toby Buckell and Sean Williams, both of whom I count among the most original fantasists writing today.

Nicodemus Weal is a protagonist that all of us can identify with. SPELLWRIGHT features a unique system of magic and characters that are genuine inhabitants of that world. SPELLWRIGHT is a letter perfect story: an absorbing read and recommended.

-Robin Hobb, bestselling author of THE FARSEER TRILOGY; THE LIVESHIP TRADERS TRILOGY; THE TAWNY MAN TRILOGY; and THE SOLDIER SON TRILOGY

.

Blake Charlton’s novel is, quite literally, a magical and spellbinding adventure about overcoming the sort of odds that many in our own world struggle with.

-Tobias Buckell, bestselling author of CRYSTAL RAIN; RAGAMUFFIN; SLY MONGOOSE; and HALO: THE COLE PROTOCOL

.

An absorbing tale of acceptance for lovers of language and magic everywhere.

-Sean Williams, bestselling author of THE BOOKS OF THE CATACLYSM and STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED

  • Congratulations Blake! I cannot wait to read Spellwright.
When you first mentioned Robin Hobb in your FB status, I kept thinking, “That’s a familiar name”…. then it dawned on me.. maybe because I’m currently reading The Farseer~ Assassin’s Apprentice on my iPhone kindle app.

  • :D that was _the_ book that mr. ruck caught me with in special ed study hall. absolutely love it!

  • I hadn’t thought about Spellwright that way before, but Williams is right: one of the very best things about it is the thread of acceptance running through the narrative: warm, steady, awesome.

  • aww…right now i’m feeling like you’re pretty warm, steady, and awesome, jess :D

  • I’m a fan of Sean Williams and have heard great things about Hobb & Buckell, so congrats on the blurbs-I’m sure they’re well-deserved!

  • Thanks so much, Kendall! Glad you’ve already discovered Sean: the Books of the Cataclysm are wonderful, original fantasy. And you’re in for a treat if you haven’t yet read much of Toby or Robin.
